Wednesday, 17th at 8pm Polyamorous NYC presents: 40 Years since Stonewall: a panel discussion among influential GLBT leaders on the history of the movement
This year is the 40th Anniversary of Stonewall. On Wednesday, June 17th, at 8pm Polyamorous NYC is hosting a forum to discuss the history and development of the GLBT community with influential leaders of the movement. In a mere 2 generations, Gay Rights have gone from a single riot in the Village to a sustained and stable national movement with institutions like NGLTF, GMHC, HRC, The Empire State Pride Agenda and community centers across the nation. How did we grow so far so fast? And what can the Poly community learn from this experience?
Speakers will include:
- David Schneider, Co-chair of Heritage of Pride
- Dennis DeLeon, President of the Latino Commission on AIDS
- Lisa Winters, Executive Director and founding member of the Bronx Community Pride Center
- Ignacio Rivera who has worked with the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force, the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network and the Anti-Violence Project.
We meet on the third Wednesday of every month in Room 101 of the LGBT Center. $10 admission; $5 youth/students.

Sunday, 28th Gay Pride March
Polyamorous NYC is proud to once again march in the New York City Gay Pride parade on Sunday, June 28th! We would like to invite you, your lovers and your lovers's lovers to join us in this special year as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of Stonewall and the birth of the modern Lesbian, Gay, Bi & Trans Rights movement. Official line-up is at 11:30am on 54th St. Btwn 5th & Madison. We are in section 5. This is a full day's event. The parade will go late into the afternoon and early evening as we merrily traipse down 5th Avenue to the Village. Because this is the 40th anniversary and given the state of same-sex marriage in America right now, this year is destine to be especially energized. It's definitely something you don't want to miss.
If you'd like to take a greater part in this historic event tell your friends, sign up on facebook and help spread the word through invites via the facebook event page. Send an email to info@Poly-NYC.com for more information. We recommend wearing sensible shoes, bringing sunscreen and plenty of hydration. There is always a moment of silence at exactly 2pm to remember those who have been lost to AIDS. Marching in the Parade is one of the best opportunities to show your Pride in the Poly community, and demonstrate your support for a great way of loving and living.
If you can't make it to march with us, follow us on Twitter to get the latest updates.
